Brooke Alexander Gallery
richard artschwager, book sculpture , brown and white formica on angled wood We are pleased to announce our participation in Art 41 Basel, from June 15th to June 20th 2010.

Based on the concept of Text, Signs and Symbols, we will exhibit artists whose work constitutes the use of language and symbols. From prints by Bruce Nauman, including Pay Attention (1973), Double Face (1981), and Violins / Violence (1985) to a selection of works by Ed Ruscha, including Safe and Effective Medication (2001), Lisp (1970), and Cheesemold Standard (1969) we will focus on text as subject matter. Additional works by Jenny Holzer, Allen Ruppersberg, and Lawrence Weiner will also be available.

Referencing language and communication, sculpture by Richard Artschwager, Book (1964), Exclamation Point (2006), and Untitled Blp (1969) will be available as will Alice (2004-08) by Markus Raetz. Other selections include Jasper Johns Savarin EM (1977-81), several drawings by Raymond Pettibon, Remy Zaugg’s Etude No. 6 (1990-94) and work by John Baldessari, Robert Rauschenberg, Andy Warhol, Christopher Wool, Richard Long, and Kurt Schwitters & Theo van Doesburg who twist language in their Kleine DaDa Soiree invitation (1922).

We will also have on hand strong examples of many of the artists we regularly exhibit such as Josef Albers, Donald Judd, Ellsworth Kelly, Barnett Newman, and Richard Tuttle.

Please visit our booth (Hall 2.1, Booth Q 1).

We look forward to seeing you in Basel!
